Direct Supervisor: New York Training Department Manager

Collaborates with: Retail Manager, Wholesale Director, Production Manager, Orders Department, Director of Operations

Our New York Training Department is looking to add another trainer to the team. The trainer organizes, coordinates, designs, and conducts trainings for wholesale clients, internal staff, and the general public. The trainer also conducts research and development projects to further enrich the training program as well as the collective knowledge of the company. A strong and diverse knowledge of coffee preparations is necessary for the position. Equally essential is the ability to communicate, organize, and adapt information for both the coffee professional and layperson. This is an hourly, full-time position.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 1.5 years experience working in specialty coffee or equivalent
• Flexible schedule, able to work weekends
• Clearly display exemplary professionalism and communication skills

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain a strong knowledge of espresso preparation and milk skills
• Conduct wholesale and in-house quality assurance
• Function as a barista at Blue Bottle retail locations and special events when needed
• Maintain up to date knowledge of all manner of brewing with our coffee
• Participate in developing wholesale and in-house training and educational materials
• Travel for extended periods to various areas of the country
• Organize and coordinate trainings for wholesale clients and in-house baristas
• Collaborate with lead baristas for in-house location needs
• Conduct regularly scheduled trainings
• Maintain the training lab and cupping area
• Attend regular Training Department meetings
• Report regularly on in-house trainings and wholesale account developments
• Lead and report on production cuppings
• Organize research proposals
• Conduct research projects of varying scope
• Other duties as assigned
