Marty’s Market’s sales clerks are passionate about great food and giving great service. They are friendly, genuinely interested in people, and are aware of and responsive to the needs of others. Sales clerks play a key role in the company’s development of strong relationships with its customers, its partner suppliers, and the surrounding community. This position involves building and maintaining relationships while working closely and accurately within guidelines.
A typical day as a Marty’s Market sales clerk will undoubtedly involve delivering unmatched customer service experiences to customers and fellow staff members as well as some or all of the following:

Taking and fulfilling orders at the deli or café counters.

Assisting customers with finding a product or selecting among them.

Creating or maintaining product displays.
-
Maintaining a high energy level all day.
-
Tasting the day’s menu specials and learning how they were prepared.

Helping set up, facilitate, or clean up after a special in-store event.

Promoting new products or services to customers.
-
Participating in weekly team meetings.
-
Helping maintain cleanliness of the store.
-
Following food and money handling procedures.

Attending training sessions about the company’s products, e.g. the uniqueness of a supplier’s farming practices or seasonal vegetables - or - about the company’s systems, e.g. how to record a customer complaint or how to log an inventory transfer between departments.
