Job Description

The Hollygrove Market and Farm seeks an experienced Executive Director to oversee all operations. Five years experience in management as well as ability to raise funds, manage budgets and grants, collaborate with a wide variety of partners, work with a board of directors, lead a team and bring the enterprise to sustainability are preferred.

ABOUT

The Hollygrove Market and Farm is an urban farm, local produce market, and community garden space located in the heart of New Orleans. Our collaborative partners include Carrolton-Hollygrove Community Development Corporation, New Orleans Food & Farm Network, Tulane City Center, Trinity Christian Community, and the Master Gardeners of New Orleans.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced and energetic individual to:

  • Provide leadership toward the continuing development of a financially-secure farm and market LLC in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans.
  • Generate grant and earned income funding, as well as solicit corporate and individual donors, to support current and future activities.
  • Oversee all aspects of HMF, including supervision of the continued growth of the farm and market, financial and grants management and reporting, personnel/staff development, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure ongoing community outreach promoting fresh food access and educational programming and cultivate local and national partnerships.
  • Serve as liaison to the Hollygrove Community Development Corporation and the HMF Advisory Board.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills should include:

  • 5 years of managing a financially successful business or directing a non-profit with a revenue-generating entity or managing a social enterprise
  • Demonstrated success in securing funding, managing a balanced budget, and compliance with grant and government reporting requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail practices and basic understanding of growing practices.
  • Experience with community development, sustainable food systems, and/or collaboration with a variety of ethnicities and socio-economic levels.
  • Ability to lead a talented team in a positive and collaborative style.
  • Ability to adjust to change and create positive solutions in response to emerging priorities.
